Candi Rogers, owner and head trainer of Rogers K-9, was born and raised around dogs and dog trainers, everything from Police K-9's, Protection dogs, Military Working dogs, Champion Hunting dogs, Family Pets and Shelter/Rescue dogs that would blossom into any one of the above. She loves and enjoys working with all dogs but has a particular passion for the American Pit Bull Terrier since the age of 15 when she rescued her first one, Sasha, from dog fighters. In her early 20's, shortly after Sasha passed away, she rescued a second APBT, Josie. Josie had been severely abused, had a partial ear missing, injuries leaving her blind in one eye, and major aggression issues. Candi consulted with four different, highly recommended dog trainers for help. All four refused to help with Josie due to her aggression and recommended euthanizing her. After the fourth refusal to help, Candi decided if she were to save Josie, she'd need to learn to train and modify this aggressive behavior, herself. She hit the libraries and started studying training methods and canine behavior in depth, and working with Josie on her own. One evening she came out of the library and met a woman outside working with several well trained dogs. The woman turned out to be a Search and Rescue trainer who admired all that Candi was doing to try to help Josie and offered to start teaching her to train dogs and help her with her dog. That is how it started. Candi eventually went back to college to work on her Masters Degree in Science, majoring in Biology/Animal Behavior. She has taken and attended countless dog training courses and seminars to learn as much as possible with a special interest in Aggression, Reactivity and Behavior Modification. She has done a lot of work with local rescues and shelters and held an Officer and Board position in a 501(c)(3) Rescue, helping to run the organization, for several years. She is/has been the Vice President of an abuse awareness organization, Pooch Patrol, that has done a lot of work and free pack walks for the public and represented and fought for abused animals. She is also the Founder, President and CEO of a non-profit, Lorain County Pit Crew, an organization that aims to fund community programs to help bully breeds, provide education, free dog-training, medical and other needs to bully owners in the community, as well as use their resources to lobby for abolishment of Breed Specific Legislation (BSL,) and stiffer penalties for dog fighting and other abuse. She holds countless dog training and behavior modification certificates, and most recently began and graduated from the Koehler Method of Dog Training (KMODT,) School, at the trainers level. She continues to study advanced techniques through the KMODT school and is preparing for AKC Obedience Competitions on multiple levels from Novice to Utility. She works closely with her training partner, Killian James, who is also her personal working dog, demo dog, and considered her family member. Killian attends all group training classes with her and does an amazing job at helping other dogs feel safe so that they can better overcome any aggression and reactivity issues to other dogs.

Blackie - Feline Training AssistantBlackie is an approximately 3 yr old, working, mini-panther (haha,) who is the owners Training Assistant and personal pet. Blackie loves everyone - dogs, other cats and all humans. He has been considered overly friendly and has no fear of dogs, even those who are not so fond of cats. So, since he doesn't mind, and enjoys helping out, we've employed him to help us to help dogs to learn how to properly behave around cats. He has quite the outgoing personality.

Rogers K-9 Services , LLC, current logoThis is the Rogers K-9 Logo, which we are working on improving. It is a pit bull skull in the likeliness of a 'Jolly Roger' pirate flag. Since we love Pit Bulls, water, boats and anything pirate, and live by and do a large majority of our work on the lake, with many boater clients. Plus, having the name 'Rogers' and always being Jolly, we found it to be fun and fitting for us.
